Evidence for Reduced Fatigue Resistance of Contemporary Rotary Instruments Exposed to Body Temperature
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of 2 different temperatures (20°C and 37°C) on the cyclic fatigue life of rotary instruments and correlate the results with martensitic transformation temperatures. (Source: Journal of Endodontics)

Sideswipe: December 5: Where is his sleigh?
Admirers of Justin Trudeau can buy a candle scented with the Prime Minister's mysterious musk. The chai-tea-and-maple-scented candles come wrapped in a picture of the Canadian Prime Minister and as the Etsy craft website explains: “If you live in Canada, there's a good chance you've already had the opportunity to smell Justin Trudeau, since he's always showing up at concerts or popping out of caves with no shirt on … But if you're not lucky enough to live in Canada, you've probably concluded, 'I guess I'll never know what Justin Trudeau smells like.

Comparison of the Osteogenic Potential of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate and Endosequence Root Repair Material in a 3-dimensional Culture System
The ability to promote osteoblast differentiation is a desirable property of root-end filling materials. Several in vitro studies compare the cytotoxicity and physical properties between mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Endosequence root repair material (ERRM), but not their osteogenic potential. Three-dimensional cultures allow cells to better maintain their physiological morphology and better resemble in vivo cellular response than 2-dimensional cultures. Here we examined the osteogenic potential of MTA and ERRM by using a commercially available 3-dimensional Alvetex scaffold. (Source: Journal of Endodontics)
