Oral decay a ‘time bomb’ for aging population
A Queensland dentist is warning that the state is setting itself up for an “overwhelming burden of disease in the aged population” as the elderly are institutionalised. Rockhampton dentist Greg Moore, a former Queensland president of the Australian Dental Association, said he had seen a growing number of elderly patients whose teeth had decayed after moving to aged care centres.

ConclusionThese results demonstrate that both rhBMP2 and rhBMP9 have osteopromotive properties on osteoblast differentiation. It was found that rhBMP9 additionally stimulated the osteopromotive potential of osteoblasts when compared to rhBMP2 by demonstrating higher levels of ALP expression and alizarin red staining.
