Late diagnosis and \u201cfield cancerization,\u201d where multifocal malignant lesions compromise standard surgical treatments and chemoradiotherapy are among the most critical challenges faced by clinical oncologists. In addition to improving methods of early diagnosis and periodic monitoring, halting tumor progression through long-term chemoprevention of at risk premalignant lesions with well-tolerated drugs or natural products remains an attractive strategy.
