Exploring Pluralism in Oral Health Care: Dom Informal Dentists in Northern Lebanon

This article describes a pluralistic regime of oral health provision in a rural part of northern Lebanon, where dental care came from two main sources: professionally trained dentists and “informal” Dom dentists with Syrian nationality. Relying on a combination of interviews and ethnography, I offer a multivocal view of oral health services that incorporates data from patients and formal and informal providers. I argue that informal dentistry constituted an interstitial and translocal mode of dental care. Confirmation of theoretical colour predictions for layering dental composite materials

Conclusion This theory can predict the colour of layers of composite resin within acceptability limits and generally also within perceptibility limits. Clinical significance This theory could therefore be incorporated into computer-based optical measuring instruments that can automate the shade selections for layers of a more opaque first layer under a more translucent second layer for those clinical situations where an underlying background colour and a desirable final colour can be measured. ConclusionsPartial pulpotomy in teeth of young patients with reversible pulpitis, either using ProRoot MTA or Dycal, resulted in favourable treatment outcomes for up to 2 years.
