Evaluation of the bone regeneration potential of bioactive glass in implant site development surgeries: a systematic review of the literature
Conclusions Within the limitations of this review, it can be concluded that (1) the combination of BG with AB chips in a 1:1 ratio is an efficacious treatment modality for direct sinus augmentation, with histological results comparable to 100 % AB. (2) When used for ridge preservation, BG yields a high percentage of true bone regeneration. (3) Currently, no reliable controlled studies report histological outcomes from the use of BG in ridge augmentation procedures. Clinical relevance Clinicians may consider BG bone substitutes as efficacious alternatives for ridge preservation and sinus augmentation surgical procedures. Further controlled clinical studies are warranted to determine if bone-to-implant contact is improved in BG-grafted sites…

Many People with Missing Teeth Don’t Need Dentures
The latest research from the University of Adelaide challenges current thinking on whether many people with tooth loss really need dentures. Quantitative evaluation of toothbrush and arm-joint motion during tooth brushing
Conclusions This study quantitatively confirmed that dental hygienists have individual distinctive rhythms during tooth brushing. All arm joints moved synchronously during brushing, and tooth brushing motion was controlled by coordinated movement of the joints. The elbow generated an individual’s frequency through a stabilizing movement. Clinical relevance The shoulder and wrist control the hand motion, and the elbow generates the cyclic rhythm during tooth brushing. (Source: Clinical Oral Investigations)

Oral Signs and HLA-DQB1?02 Haplotypes in the Celiac Paediatric Patient: A Preliminary Study.
Authors: Erriu M, Abbate GM, Pili FM, Novara F, Orrù G, Montaldo C, Piras V, Levrini L Abstract Celiac disease (CD) diagnosis can be extremely challenging in the case of atypical patterns. In this context, oral signs seem to play a decisive role in arousing suspicion of these forms of the disease. At the same time, the different expressions of the HLA-DQB1?02 allele apparently seem to facilitate the interpretation of signs and highlighted symptoms. The aim of this work was to verify whether it is possible to identify a correlation between the development of oral signs and different DQ2 haplotypes in celiac pediatric patients. 44 celiac patients with a medium age of 9.9 were studied. Oral examinations were performed in order to identify recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) and den…
