“The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane.”

Diagnosis, PET/CT imaging, and treatment of extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma in keratinized gingiva: a case report.
Authors: Aral CA, A?larc? OS, Y?lmaz HH, Ta?l? F, Karaarslan S, Hatipo?lu F, Sanal MS Abstract A 58-year-old patient who smoked and had uncontrolled type 2 diabetes mellitus was referred to our clinic. The patient had a suspicious asymptomatic lesion that was diagnosed as B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). Immunohistochemistry revealed intense and diffuse expression of CD20, CD10, BCL-6, and Ki-67. A positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan showed focal pathological uptake of F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose only in the subcutaneous tissue anterior to the left maxillary sinus. After lesion excision and five courses of chemotherapy, PET/CT scans demonstrated complete resolution of the lesion. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, and periodontal disease might b…

Angioleiomyoma of the cheek: a case report.
We report a rare case of angioleiomyoma of the cheek in a 45-year-old man. The postoperative course was uneventful, without complications. PMID: 25807911 [PubMed – in process] (Source: Journal of oral science)

Mother terrified of dentists used SUPERGLUE to stick her teeth back in her mouth for 10 years – eroding her jaw bone
Angie Barlow, 48, from Altrincham, Greater Manchester, was forced to seek treatment after the toxic chemicals in superglue meant she lost 90 per cent of the bone in her top jaw. (Source: the Mail online | Health)

Differentiating zones at periodontal ligament–bone and periodontal ligament–cementum entheses
ConclusionColocalization of biomolecules at zones of the PDL adjacent to attachment sites may be essential for the formation of precementum and osteoid interfaces at a load?bearing bone–PDL–tooth fibrous joint. Biophysical cues resulting from development and function can regulate recruitment and differentiation of stem cells potentially from a vascular origin toward osteo? and cemento?blastic lineages at the PDL–bone and PDL–cementum entheses. Investigating the coupled effect of biophysical and biochemical stimuli leading to cell differentiation at the functional attachment sites is critical for developing regeneration strategies to enable functional reconstruction of the periodontal complex. Molecular mechanisms in dental follicle precursor cells during the osteogenic differentiation.
Authors: Morsczeck C Abstract The discovery of dental stem cells received extensive attention because of its significance for the development of novel cellular therapies in dentistry. However, dental stem cells are also excellent for studies about cellular processes during dental tissue development or regeneration. Multipotent undifferentiated cells in the dental follicle (DFCs) are one example of dental stem cells. These cells have been used on studies about cellular processes during the differentiation into alveolar osteoblasts and cementoblasts. This review article summarizes current knowledge about the influence of signaling pathways, transcription factors and extracellular matrix proteins on the osteogenic differentiation of DFCs. PMID: 26016694 [PubMed – as supplied by pu…
