Is love in the air?
For being the shortest month of the year, a whole lot sure does happen in February – President’s Day, Valentine’s Day, the start of baseball’s spring training, it’s Black History Month, and Feb. 9 is my mom’s birthday and National Toothache Day. National Toothache Day is set aside for people to study the causes of toothaches and tooth decay.

Cone beam CT evaluation of mandibular molar root canal morphology in a Turkish Cypriot population
Conclusions Type IV was the most prevalent canal configuration of both the mandibular first and second molar teeth. There was a low prevalence of three-rooted mandibular molars in this particular population. Clinical relevance The current study is the first of its kind to include a Turkish Cypriot population and, thus, provides baseline data for these patients regarding appropriate root canal treatments. Clinicopathological analysis of salivary gland tumors over a 15-year period
In conclusion, pleomorphic adenoma and adenoid cystic carcinoma are the most frequent benign and malignant lesions, respectively. Synergistic Inhibition of Enamel Demineralization by Peptide 8DSS and Fluoride
The biomimetic peptide 8DSS has shown beneficial effects in promoting remineralization of demineralized enamel in vitro. Here we examined the ability of 8DSS alone and in combination with fluoride to inhibit enamel demineralization during pH-cycling mimicking intraoral conditions. Enamel blocks were subjected to 9 days of pH-cycling in the presence of 1,000 ppm NaF (positive control), distilled-deionized water (DDW; negative control), 25 ?M 8DSS alone, 25 ?M 8DSS with 500 ppm NaF (8DSS-FL) or 25 ?M 8DSS with 1,000 ppm NaF (8DSS-FH) twice daily for 1 min each time. The blocks were analyzed in terms of surface microhardness (SMH), fluoride uptake and mineral content. The 8DSS-treated blocks showed significantly lower mineral loss, shallower lesions and higher SMH than the DDW-treated bloc…

Occlusal Caries Management: Preferences among Dentists in Norway
The aim was to measure variations in the threshold for operative treatment of occlusal caries in permanent teeth and the use of dental materials, compared with results from a similar study conducted in Norway in 1995. In 2009, a precoded questionnaire was sent electronically to 3,654 dentists with E-mail addresses in the member register of the Norwegian Dental Association. The questions were related to caries, treatment strategies and choice of dental materials. Replies were obtained from 61.3% respondents after two reminders. Restorative treatment of occlusal lesions confined to enamel was proposed by 12% of the dentists, compared with 18% in 1995 (p < 0.01). Older dentists more often than younger dentists would operatively treat enamel lesions (p < 0.01). Most dentists preferred to drill...
