Blockade of RAGE in Zucker obese rats with experimental periodontitis

ConclusionIn this study, treatment with anti?RAGE IgG3 resulted in improved glucose tolerance and attenuated renal complications. However, no effect was observed on the diabetes?associated periodontitis in Zucker obese rats. Furthermore, periodontitis had no effect on diabetic markers or renal complications. Therefore, activation of RAGE is important in the development of T2D. (Source: Journal of Periodontal Research)

Mobile dental clinic to increase Delaware patients’ access to care

Connections Mobile Dental Services will provide comprehensive dental services and will be staffed full time by a dentist and hygienist. Connections Community Support Programs Inc. and Barclays Bank Delaware unveiled a fully equipped mobile dental clinic during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Feb. 19 The 38-foot vehicle, made possible by a $ 310,000 low-interest loan from Barclays to Connections, will be used to provide comprehensive dental services, including cleanings, digital X-rays, fillings, root canals, extractions and dentures.

Gum disease may worsen cognitive decline for Alzheimer’s patients

Researchers found Alzheimer’s patients with gum disease had a six-fold increase in the rate of cognitive decline over a 6-month period, compared with those without gum disease.

NHS dental charges in England to rise 5% for each of the next two years

NHS dental charges in England will rise 5% for each of the next two years, the Government has announced, while prescriptions will also rise this year. Prescriptions will jump from A 8.20 to A 8.40 from April 1, and there will be a rise for wigs and optical vouchers.

Seoul City to return crematorium remnants to bereaved families

Seoul City said Wednesday its city-run crematoriums will collect and return remnants from the incinerated remains of the deceased, such as melted gold teeth, upon the bereaved families’ requests. According to the civil law, remnants from the incinerated body at crematoriums belong to the bereaved families.
