ConclusionThese results suggest that the decrease in E?cad caused by P. gingivalis?LPS leads to destruction of the epithelial barrier function in human gingival epithelial cells, and finally accelerates the inflammatory reaction under the barrier. Antioxidants, particularly vitamin E and l?ascorbic acid 2?phosphate magnesium salt, may restore the impaired function by scavenging ROS, which are related to the decrease in E?cad expression by P. gingivalis?LPS. CONCLUSION: There was no difference in the dental implant survival rate when implants were placed in native bone or bone-grafted sites. Smoking and lack of professional maintenance were significantly related to increased implant loss. While many employers provide employees with insurance that covers dental costs, that coverage often comes to an abrupt end when an employee retires. Medicare doesn’t cover most routine dental services.

Kanzow, Philipp / Wegehaupt, Florian J. / Attin, Thomas / Wiegand, AnnettePage 275 – 278The condition of dental erosion is defined as acid-related loss of tooth structure which does not involve microorganisms. Depending on the origin of the acid, extrinsic (usually caused by acids in food) and intrinsic (caused by endogenous acid) erosion can be distinguished. The presence and severity of erosive defects depend on various parameters such as nutrition, saliva, general diseases, and mechanical stress by abrasion and attrition. As an example, dietary habits which involve frequent intake of acidic food and beverages, occupational acid exposure, as well as certain drugs or diseases that affect saliva flow rate are accompanied by an increased risk of erosive dental hard tissue defects. Abstract Intermaxillary fixation (IMF) with screws is routinely used as a conservative therapy or to obtain normal occlusion during the surgical procedure of open reduction and internal fixation for treating mandibular fractures. The risk of iatrogenic dental damage caused by interdental drilling is widely known. Several side effects are described, including loss of response to pulp sensibility testing, root fracture, and, loss of the tooth. This is a case report about a young man who had undergone temporary IMF treatment with a single proven root damage. The patient did not appear for follow?up but he presented 5 years afterward with local purulent osteomyelitis concerning the affected and the adjacent teeth. Osteotomy and extraction of two premolars and one molar were necessary for reh…
