Alleged DIY tooth maker taken to court by dental college

The professional body that represents B.C. dentists is suing a man who was allegedly making partial dentures unlicensed, and with store-bought modelling clay from his Richmond home. In the post, which has been removed, Block said he could make individual, non-toxic teeth from his home for $ 100 dollars each.

Dental and skeletal effects of palatal expansion techniques: a systematic review of the current evidence from systematic reviews and meta?analyses

Summary The aim was to assess the quality and to summarise the findings of the Systematic Reviews (SRs) and Meta?Analyses (MAs) on the dental and skeletal effects of maxillary expansion. Electronic and manual searches have been independently conducted by two investigators, up to February 2015. SRs and MAs on the dentoalveolar and skeletal effects of fixed expanders were included. The methodological quality was assessed using the AMSTAR (A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews). The design of the primary studies included in each SR/MA was assessed with the LRD (Level of Research Design scoring). The evidence for each outcome was rated applying a pre?determined scale. Effective strategies to motivate nursing home residents in oral healthcare and to prevent or reduce responsive behaviours to oral healthcare: a systematic review protocol

Introduction Oral healthcare in nursing homes is less than optimal, with severe consequences for residents’ health and quality of life. To provide the best possible oral healthcare to nursing home residents, care providers need strategies that have been proven to be effective. Strategies can either encourage and motivate residents to perform oral healthcare themselves or can prevent or overcome responsive behaviours from residents when care providers assist with oral healthcare. Craft-clay dentures prompt court action against allegedly unlicensed B.C. man

Dental regulators in British Columbia have asked the province's Supreme Court to shut down what they allege is an unlicensed denture-fabrication business operating in the Vancouver area. The College of Dental Surgeons, College of Denturists, and College of Dental Technicians have filed a petition in B.C. Supreme Court asking that Matthew Ronald Block be stopped from taking money and providing services that are only allowed to be conducted by their members.
